Helena's Poems

I think that in some ways we came to the function of poetry as a medium, by discussing how atmosphere is romanticised, regardless of its perspective and context. Even a hopeless, scary or depressing atmosphere is romanticised when presented through a painting, song or poem.

Poetry was practical under these circumstances, so we all wrote some haikus, of which mine are below.

Surrounded by light
that reflects off each surface
here we splatter words

Square screens sprinkle wall
yet we write with paper pen
design is bullshit

A sphere of power
that collides with another
movement and feeling

Upon reflection, I found it interesting that the content of my poems began very literally, and progressed to become both subjective and abstract. In addition, I subconciously used poetic devices (metaphor and alliteration).

Atmosphere Haiku.

Physical or spirit
The intangible around us
Forever re-new.

The moment is now
Surrounding us together
Perception is key.

The air we breathe
Moment forever changing
Atmosphere is you.
